The AMCOS Board comprises twelve Directors all of whom are members of AMCOS. [Please note: The AMCOS Board resolved to reduce its number of Directors from 14 to 12 in August 2010, in keeping with the size of the APRA Board.]
AMCOS members may be elected to the Board if they have have earned AMCOS royalties in the immediately preceeding financial year. Voting entitlements are based on each member's earnings in the preceeding financial year. One-third of the Directors retire by rotation each year but, if eligible, may seek re-election.
Ian James - Chairperson
Non-executive Director since 1988
Ian has been the Managing Director of Mushroom Music Pty Limited since 1986. He is also the current Chairman of the Australasian Music Publishers Association Limited and Deputy Chairman of the Australasian Performing Right Association Limited.
Ian has a Bachelor of Commerce (Applied Psychology) from the University of New South Wales and was employed by the Australasian Performing Right Association Limited from 1976 to 1986 in several management positions.
Robert Aird
Non-executive Director since 1986
Robert is Managing Director of Universal Music Publishing Pty Limited, Universal/MCA Publishing Pty Limited, Universal/MGB Music Publishing Pty Ltd, Rondor Music (Australia) Pty Limited, Essex Music of Australia Pty Limited and Cromwell Music of Australia Pty Limited .
He is also Director of Australasian Performing Right Association Limited and Australasian Music Publishers Association Limited (of which he was also a past Chairman).
He previously held a management position at Polygram Records and was Managing Director of Rondor Music (Australia) Pty Ltd when it was an independent company.
Marianna Annas
An experienced music lawyer and formerly at Simpsons Solicitors, Marianna has also held senior legal and business affairs roles at major record labels and music publishers including BMG Australia and BMG Music Publishing, SonyBMG Entertainment in New York, and EMI Music Australia. She was GM at Music Industry Piracy Investigations (MIPI) during 2009, and is currently Head of ABC Music Publishing and a Director of the Australian Music Publishers' Association (AMPAL). She has presented at many music industry forums including the Australasian Music Business Conference, the Adelaide Fuse Festival, Big Sound and at the Australian Institute of Music.
Mark Callaghan
Mark is the managing director of IS Music P/L. He is also a director of Caltoons P/L, a music industry consultancy firm that currently provides management services for AMPAL. Between 2002 and 2007, Mark was General Manager of Shock Music Publishing, having previously held the positions of A&R Manager at Festival records and Professional Manager at Sony /ATV Music Publishing. An APRA writer member since 1981, Mark is currently on the board of the Music Council of Australia. He also holds a Bachelor Of Design degree from the University Of Queensland.
Matthew Capper

Matthew is the Managing Director of Warner/Chappell Music Australia Pty Ltd, having been promoted from General Manager in June 2010. He was previously Administration Manager at Festival Music Publishing.
He is also a Director of Chappell & Co (Australia) Pty Ltd, Wallaby Music Pty Ltd, Warner/Chappell Pty Ltd, the Australasian Performing Right Association Limited, and is a Director and Deputy Chair of the Australasian Music Publishers Association Limited.
Matthew Donlevy

Matthew is the Managing Director of Peermusic Pty Limited, Southern Music Publishing Co (Australasia) Pty Limited and Frankdon Music Pty Limited. He is also a Director of the Australasian Music Publishers Association Limited, David Platz Music (Australia) Pty Limited and Minder Music Australia Pty Ltd. Matthew’s previous appointments include professional manager of ATV Northern Songs and Castle Music.
Catherine Gerrard

Catherine is a shareholder and the Executive Director, Publishing and Copyright of All Music Publishing and Distribution Pty Ltd (AMPD). Catherine joined AMPD (then Allans Publishing) in 2000 after 10 years in a senior management position at AMEB Federal Office. Catherine is also a Director of the Australasian Music Publishers’ Association Limited. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Melbourne and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Peter Hebbes AM
Non-executive Director since 2002
Peter is Managing Director of Hebbes Music Group Pty Ltd and has recently been appointed as General Manager of the Australasian Music Publishers Association Ltd (AMPAL). He is past Chairman of AMPAL and a past Director and Deputy Chairman of the Australasian Performing Rights Association (APRA). He is currently on the Board of the Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society Ltd (AMCOS), and the Australian Music Performance Committee.
In the past he has also served on the Boards of the Music Industry Advisory Council, the Australian Music Centre and Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy Australia. Peter is a director of “Variety” NSW and co-founder and trustee of The Golden Stave Foundation. In 2006 Peter was appointed as a member in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM) in recognition of his contribution to the Australian music industry and his extensive charity work.
David Albert
Currently the CEO of the Albert Group of Companies which includes J.Albert & Son, the music rights management business founded in 1885 by Jacques Albert. David is the fifth generation Albert to work in the family business. David holds an MBA from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management, a Masters in Marketing from the University of Massachusetts in the US and is the co-chair of Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Australia.
Damian Trotter

Damian is the Managing Director of Sony/ATV Music Publishing and a former Chairman of the Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society Limited Damian is also a Director of the Australasian Music Publishers Association Limited and the Australasian Performing Right Association Limited.
After joining CBS Records in 1981, he held various positions including Local Artist Marketing Manager and National Promotions Manager. In 1990 he was appointed General Manager of East West Records before returning to Sony in 1991 to take up his current position.
Philip Walker
Non-executive Director since 2000
Philip is Chairman of Origin Music Group, Chairman of the Sago Group and a non executive Director of J. Albert and Son Pty Limited. He graduated with a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Technology in 1980. Philip is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, a Member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and Member of the Australian Institute of Management. He has previously served as a Director and Honorary Treasurer of the Craft Council of New South Wales. He was in practice as a Chartered Accountant, Auditor and Tax Agent from 1980 – 1998 and is also a Director of the Australasian Music Publishers Association Limited.
Steve McPherson

Steve is the Manager of Hillsong Publishing in Sydney, Australia and has extensive experience as a performer, producer, songwriter and publisher. Steve works closely with sub-publishers, record companies and artists across the globe managing one of the most active publishing catalogues in Christian music ever to come out of Australia. Steve has over 12 years experience in music publishing and copyright.

Jonathan Carter
Company Secretary
Jonathan Carter is Corporate Counsel of the Australasian Performing Right Association and Australasian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (APRA|AMCOS), managing the legal affairs of both organisations.
After being admitted to practise in 2001, Jonathan was appointed associate to the Honourable Justice Heerey of the Federal Court of Australia, who at that time was Chair of the Court's intellectual property law panel. Jonathan also worked in the intellectual property group of national law firm Allens Arthur Robinson, before taking in-house legal and management roles at Sony Music Entertainment Australia and then EMI Music Australia.
Jonathan is a member of the Communications Arts Media Lawyers Association and in 2010 was elected to the Management Committee of the Copyright Society of Australia. He has been guest lecturer in Entertainment Law at the Southern Cross University law school and is a regular speaker at various copyright related seminars around Australia.
Jonathan has degrees in arts and law with double first class honours from the University of Sydney.
